In the same year that Hammer Studio released their version of Dracula, director Paul Landres made a film about Dracula, not related to Stoker’s book in any way other than the name of the main character.

This film went unnoticed against the background of the Hammer "Dracula". And it was quite natural. However, The Return of Dracula is also a very interesting film about the famous vampire.

The role of Dracula played a famous Hollywood actor (originally from Czechoslovakia) - Francis Lederer (who lived 100 years). According to him, the finished script for the film was not at the time of the shooting, and he was written on the go.

In the performance of Lederer, Dracula was no less seductive and insidious than in the performance of his previous Bela Lugosi. Playing Dracula, Lederer wore a strict business suit, which created a special contrast between his Dracula and Dracula Lugosi, who wore a black cloak.

The film has a remarkable scene in which a vampire is driven into the heart of an aspen stake, and the blood gushing from her body is shown in color, while the rest of the film is black and white.

In addition, the film has a terrific musical accompaniment written by Gerald Freed, who wrote music for many famous films. By the way, the shades of Fried's music can also be heard in Stanley Kubrick's "Shine". However, given that Kubrick somehow collaborated with Freed, it is likely that he borrowed the main musical motive from this film.
