Mitch Brockden is a completely prosperous and law-abiding citizen, he is an exemplary family man and, having made a good career, holds the post of district attorney. But once life puts him to a serious test - Mitch becomes the culprit of a traffic accident, and through his fault a person dies. But since the matter takes place late in a deserted place, Mitch decides to escape from the scene of the crime and simply keep silent about what happened, leaving himself the pangs of conscience. Soon another person is blamed for this crime, and Mitch takes part in the investigation of the case. Having made every effort to justify the innocent, Mitch succeeds, but soon realizes that everything is much more confusing than it seemed at first glance. But initially having embarked on the path of lies, Mitch cannot devote anyone to his secret and therefore is forced to unravel this web on his own, which threatens not only well-being, but also the life of his loved ones.
