Richard Dane is a respectable citizen and an exemplary family man who accidentally shot a robber who entered their house late at night. The man is tormented by remorse, however, the police reassure him, citing the fact that the victim was a seasoned criminal who had long been on the federal wanted list. Law enforcement officers quickly get rid of the corpse and do not initiate criminal proceedings. But after this incident, the life of Richard and his family becomes very hectic, as the father of the murdered Ben Russell, who received early release, is released. He tries to do everything possible to avenge the death of his son, but as it turns out later, the person who Richard shot was buried in the grave. Dane begins to realize that the police are playing a dirty game, and in order to figure it out, he hires a private detective ...
