The end of the 30s - the beginning of the 40s. Germany. John Holder is a good, worthy person with many family problems: a nervous wife, constantly requiring attention children and a mother suffering from tuberculosis and falling into insanity. As a professor of literature and writer, Holder analyzes some of the realities of his life in his novel, where he advocates euthanasia. Then the book unexpectedly attracted the attention of Nazi political leaders, who saw in it an excellent means of propaganda of the ideology of national socialism. Holder's career goes uphill, and personal life is getting better.
