A former English soldier, leaving the service, suddenly finds himself without a roof over his head and without any support. Wandering aimlessly through the city streets, not knowing what to do and how to live further, Tomaz suddenly stumbles upon a dilapidated house. A dilapidated dwelling is owned by a lonely girl named Magda. She invites the man to settle in her house, and in return he will help to fix it. Realizing that there is no other choice, Tomaz agrees and soon puts things in order and repairs the leaking roof. Meanwhile, Magda carefully looks after the elderly mother and unquestioningly fulfills all her requests. Tomaz has never seen a dying woman, because she does not come down from the second floor, and he himself is forbidden to go up. But soon the hero begins to suspect that poor Magda is possessed by supernatural powers. Will a man be able to save her from the abyss or will the parent not allow him?
