The action movie "Intercessor" follows the ranch owner and former Marine sniper Jim Hanson (Liam Neeson). He lives in the border town of Arizona (USA) and Mexico. Jim is newly widowed, has property problems, avoiding eviction notices and wanting only one thing - the world will leave him alone. Aside from occasional visits from his police daughter Sarah (Catherine Winnick), he lives a reclusive life, essentially in isolation. Jim's duties include patrolling the border and reporting illegal attempts to cross it.

Unfortunately, this exclusion from society is one day disrupted by a meeting with migrants Rosa (Teresa Ruiz) and her 11-year-old son Miguel (Jacob Perez), who are Mexican citizens fleeing the killers of a Mexican drug cartel. Initially, this forces Hanson to fight a crisis of conscience: will he give up these people or defy the law and do the right thing?

In the end, Hanson decides to help the illegal migrants, however, Rosa is killed in a shootout with several cartel members led by Maurico (Juan Pablo Raba), and in her dying wish, she asks Jim to hide her son in a safe place. Now Hanson has no choice but to take Miguel to his family in Chicago, which draws him into new troubles.

With Miguel in custody of the US Customs and Border Patrol, Jim is forced to defy the law again in order to take the child into his care and hit the road, avoiding the assassins on his tail. After Hanson uses his credit card to repair the truck, Mauriko tracks them down on the Oklahoma highway and a new chase begins. Soon, a corrupt police officer nearly caught them and handed them over to Maurico, but Hanson and Miguel manage to escape and continue their journey north. They even stop at a church so that Miguel can properly honor his deceased mother, Rosa. On a dangerous journey as the assassins approach, led by the ruthless Maurico, a strong friendship develops between Jim and Miguel. But if they can reach the Miguel family in Chicago, you will find out by watching the action-packed thriller "The Protector".
