The action takes place several years after Maleficent cast evil spells on Princess Aurora. The complex relationships of the heroines are subjected to new tests when Aurora agrees to marry the handsome Prince Philip from the neighboring kingdom. At a dinner party in honor of the engagement Maleficent is trying to be good-natured, but the insult from the mother of Prince Ingrit infuriates her. Soon Ingrit accuses the sorceress of cursing King John and then declares war on her. When Maleficent escapes from the castle, the dark fairies who have been hiding from people for centuries come to her aid.
