"The Old Dark House" is a 1963 comedy horror film directed by William Castle, which is a remake of Universal's 1932 film of the same name. Based on a 1927 novel by J. B. Priestley, the storyline revolves around the protagonist, Tom Penderel, who encounters a series of murders in a mysterious old mansion. The film received mixed reviews, with some critics considering it a disappointment compared to the original. The cast includes Tom Poston, Robert Morley, Janette Scott, and Joyce Grenfell, and the film has been released on DVD in the US and Spain. In the film, an American car salesman named Tom Penderel delivers a car to a decaying mansion in Wales, where he discovers that his eccentric client, Casper Femm, is dead. He is invited to stay at the mansion by members of Casper's family, who have a strange rule that they must return to the mansion before midnight each evening or forfeit their share of the family fortune. During the night, members of the family start dying, and Tom discovers that the killer is one of the family members. It is ultimately revealed that Cecily, one of Casper's nieces, is the killer, and she has placed time bombs in all the clocks in the house. Tom manages to defuse the bombs and stop Cecily just in time. The film was released in 1963, produced by Hammer Film Productions, Ltd. and William Castle Productions, and distributed by Columbia Pictures.
